We believe different minds make the most remarkable things.
Gathered Things is a community market and creative marketplace built for neurodivergent artists, makers and small businesses.
And the people who love what they make.
OUR STORY
How it started.
Gathered Things grew from a question: why isn't there a market that truly puts neurodivergent makers first?
Not a market that tolerates difference — one that celebrates it. Where the event itself is designed for people who find crowds difficult, noise overwhelming, or social pressure exhausting. Where the makers are celebrated for the depth of care they bring to their work, not despite it.
We're a community with an extraordinary concentration of creative talent and not nearly enough places to show it.
So we're building one.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
What we stand for.
Neurodivergent first
This community isn't an afterthought. It's the reason we exist. Every decision we make starts with asking: is this good for neurodivergent makers and visitors?
Accessibility as design
Low sensory isn't a box we tick. It's a design principle that shapes everything — from the layout of our markets to the way we communicate with stallholders.
Made with care
We curate for quality and genuine craft. The things you find at Gathered Things were made by someone who couldn't help caring deeply about them.
LOW SENSORY COMMITMENT
What low sensory means to us.
A lot of events describe themselves as low sensory. We want to be specific about what that means at Gathered Things.
🔇 Sound
No amplified music. Soft ambient sound only, or none. No PA announcements except for safety.
💡 Light
Light Natural light wherever possible. No flashing, strobing or harsh overhead fluorescent lighting.
👥 Crowd
Managed attendance with clear flow. Wide spacing between stalls. A pre-visit site map shared with every attendee before the day.
🌿 Scent
Stallholders with scented products briefed to keep items contained. No incense.
💬 Communication
Stallholders briefed on ND-friendly engagement. No pressure selling.
🧘 Quiet zone
A dedicated rest space. Think comfortable seating, shade, low stimulus available all day. No selling, no pressure. Just a place to breathe.
WHO WE’RE FOR
Gathered Things is for everyone.
Our markets are designed with neurodivergent people in mind, but they're open and welcoming to everyone. Families, friends, collectors, curious people, and anyone who believes that the best things are made by people who truly care.
If you're neurodivergent and you make things — this is for you.
If you're neurodivergent and you love finding beautiful things — this is for you.
If you're neither — you're still very welcome.
